She has covered sports for some of the biggest outlets across the globe. She was a reporter for The Washington Post nearly a decade and covered Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as playing basketball in multiple Olympics. Nichols worked for nine years at ESPN and won the network two Emmy Awards. Additionally, she was an assistant journalist on the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Then, she switched onto CNN sports and then Turner. Unguarded with Rachel Nichols was the first show she produced and hosted. It was aired on CNN International as well as CNN. The show had more than one billion viewers around the world. Nichols also worked for TNT in NBA broadcasts during playoffs and broadcasts of the All-Star games. Also, she has worked at TBS in the capacity of a journalist for golf and baseball broadcasts. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. This is only the second nomination in the 42 years that have preceded this award to a woman among more than 200 nominated contestants.
